STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
MAYOR, CITY OF HOLLISTER

IGNACIO VELAZQUEZ
Occupation: Mayor, City of Hollister

Education & Qualifications:

It has been an honor serving as your Mayor.

In the last few years, many things have gone very well for our City. By focusing on bringing retail and commercial businesses to our city, we have created over 1,000 new jobs and millions of dollars of new revenue for our city. We have implemented a road repair and infrastructure improvement plan of over $30 million that will be repairing many of our city streets along with water and sewer lines.

Unfortunately, developers are once again fighting to go back to the old ways of just wanting to build more houses. They are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to elect people who will approve their developments. Developers want to build more houses on Fairview and a new city along Highway 25, which will double traffic on our roads.

We can’t afford to fall for the same old tricks and lies from developers. I will continue to say NO to these developers! Together, we can keep moving forward in a positive direction.

I humbly ask for your vote as Mayor of our beautiful City of Hollister.

Thank you.

Ignacio Velazquez

STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
MAYOR, CITY OF HOLLISTER

MIA CASEY
Occupation: Nonprofit Administrator

Education & Qualifications:

I believe in the promise of Hollister. This is a special place to live with natural beauty and small-town charm. I want to preserve our heritage as we plan for the future.

For the past ten years we’ve heard claims of slowing housing growth, but it hasn’t happened. Meanwhile, our local economy has stagnated with little new business or jobs. Housing strains our infrastructure. Building a strong economy is what provides revenue to fix roads, sewers and water mains. It keeps us safe, funding more firefighters and police. Good local jobs keep folks in town and off the roads.

Imagine what could be achieved with City Council working cooperatively towards that goal. I can bring the unity and leadership needed.

I co-founded a nonprofit focused on strengthening our economy. As Mayor I will continue that work, reviewing spending, focusing on revenue–working hard to create a thriving economy. My broad experience in the private, public and nonprofit sectors will serve Hollister well. I will ensure your voices are heard and respected at City Hall.

I’d be honored to be the first woman elected as Mayor of Hollister. I humbly ask for your vote.

B.A. degree, Sonoma State University.
