STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
DISTRICT ATTORNEY

JOEL A BUCKINGHAM
Occupation: Deputy District AttorneyAge: 41

Education & Qualifications:

My name is Joel Buckingham, and I ask for your vote for District Attorney. I have over 15 years experience as a Prosecutor. I have successfully tried multiple homicide cases, gang and other violent felony cases. I have investigated and prosecuted financial and embezzlement crimes. Here, I have successfully tried to conviction the murder cases of People v. Sang Ji and People v. Manuel Campa.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting. My law degree is from UC Hastings. I worked for Ernst & Young in San Jose and earned my CPA License (inactive). My wife is a 4th generation San Benito County resident. Her family’s business served San Benito County for over 70 years.

I will aggressively prosecute “quality of life” crimes in our community. Catalytic converter thefts, property crimes, and vandalisms degrade our sense of security. I have prosecuted overdose cases holding drug dealers accountable.

I want your District Attorney’s Office to be accessible, transparent, and accountable to the citizens of this county. It’s past time for our office to have a meaningful website presence explaining what we are doing and why. I will fight for us; I humbly ask for your vote.
