Status of Vote-by-Mail and Processing Schedule

Welcome to the Vote-by-Mail Status page for the November 8, 2016 Presidential Election.

All Vote-by-Mail ballots, once received by our office, undergo a thorough process to verify and ensure all possible votes are counted.  This process includes:

  • Verifying the signature on the return envelope matches the voter’s signature from their Voter Registration Records
  • Verifying the address printed by the voter on the envelope, matches the voter’s residential address as reported in their voter registration records
  • I think there is more
  • Ballots are removed from their envelopes, and envelopes, with names, are removed from the staging area before any ballot is opened and any votes are seen
  • Ballots are batched by precinct and sent to the vote counting machinery
  • Ballots are counted, and results are kept secret until 8:00pm on Election Day

All activities are open to viewing by the public.
